IDES is a blog attempting to speak to its moment and create a space for thinking, writing, and reading where philosophy is treated as an ordinary activity, continuous with daily-life rather than set apart from it. 

We come from many theoretically flexible positions, but fundamentally share a common goal — to figure out how to live well in our current context, and within our limits on this finite planet. This shared goal is to find everyday liberatory philosophical ‘bites’ for people to hold onto and help us all ‘do what we can’ in the context of our crisis saturated world, speaking to existence and philosophy applied, cutting straight through to the reality of our shared existences, and ultimately heading toward a revolution of the systems that continue to sprint toward an infinite and individualised end.

We reject dualisms (unless someone is really truly wrong), and use humour a lot because there is plenty in this world that is absurd. We are lightly, though not always, anonymous and nothing here is sponsored, optimised, or otherwise rationalised. This blog persists on its own terms: clarity where possible, honesty where not, and always subject to change.

We were never meant to understand any of this alone.
